Douglas Slight

Chairman

Douglas joined the firm at the tender age of 16yrs, completing a four-year joinery apprenticeship and learning every aspect of the business. By the age of 25 he was supporting his father in a management position and assumed full control of the business in 1998. Under Douglas’s leadership, RP Slight & Sons has flourished and grown into the respected and innovative firm it is today.

Kevin Brown

Director

Kevin is a qualified carpenter and joiner whose talents now extend into managing our contracts. Kevin’s extensive knowledge and experience adds a unique dimension to the level of service we offer our commercial clients. For private clients, Kevin brings the same professionalism in ensuring every expectation is met, if not exceeded.

Tom Marr

Contracts Manager

Tom started his career as an apprentice carpenter back in 1978 and joined the RPS team in 1990. Tom’s talents quickly extended beyond the workshop and he now looks after all aspects of our contracts. This includes managing orders, sourcing materials, site meetings and delivery/installation.

Richard Craig

Workshop Manager

Richard has over 30yrs experience in joinery manufacturing and production, which means he knows pretty much everything there is to know about wood and what you can create with it. Everything that goes through our workshop is overseen by Richard and nothing leaves without his exacting seal of approval.

William Phillips

Workshop Team Leader

Willam joined RPS in 2016 as a workshop apprentice. Completing his SCQF in carpentry and joinery, in 2020. William had now progressed to managing a production team in our workshop overseeing and working in bespoke high-end Items and materials for planned and reactive site works. As the nephew of Managing Director, Douglas, William isexceptionally proud to be carrying on the family tradition, combining time-honoured craftsmanship with the adoption of new technology and innovation.

Lynne Dunlop

Reactive and Planned Maintenance Manager

Lynne, is an integral part of our team. She has been working with RPS for over 20 years moving from workshop joiner, to production team leader and has now moved into our management office. She has applied her eye for precision and efficiency from joinery to management and now manages maintenance works for various contracts across Scotland, As our Maintenance lead. She has a team of experienced operatives covering multiple trades, able to delivery reactive and planned works.

Iain Smith

Quantity Surveyor

Iain Smith joined RP Slight and Sons in 2019 as a Quantity Surveyor. His journey in the construction industry began as a joiner on sites in the Highlands, grounding him with practical, on-site experience. Iain's academic prowess was showcased when he graduated from Heriot-Watt University in 2020, specialising in Quantity Surveying. His blend of hands-on expertise and academic knowledge brings a unique perspective to cost management and project planning at RP Slight and Sons.

James Slight

Director

James Slight, rejoining the company in 2023, has ushered in the fourth generation of RP Slight and Sons. His diverse background includes an 8-year tenure as an Army Officer, with significant experience from overseas tours, including Afghanistan. James's military experience contributes immensely to his management skills, particularly in leadership and strategic planning. His aim is to drive the company forward, honouring its legacy while steering it towards new growth and innovation.

Joanne Morrison

Office Manager

As the Office Manager of RP Slight and Sons, Joanne Morrison is the linchpin of the company’s administrative operations. Her role is pivotal in maintaining the seamless functioning of the office, overseeing various administrative tasks. Joanne's ability to manage and organise effectively ensures that the company's values and commitment to client-focused service are upheld in every aspect of its operations.
